The Butte College Firefighter Academy has added a fire engine to its fleet of vehicles which will aid in training cadets.
The college purchased the fire engine, a 2008 Sutphen Monarch, this fall. The purchase was made available through a grant from the California Community Colleges’ Strong Workforce Programs. The academy is already using the fire engine to train the 76th Firefighter I Academy which will complete their training this December.
“This purchase not only enhances our fleet, but adds a greater degree of safety and reliability to educate the next generation of California firefighters,” said Dennis Reinhardt, Butte College Fire Academy coordinator.
